How are snails cooked ?

Our pre-prepared snails are simply cooked in a conventional oven.
Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F), place the snails in a suitable dish, and bake for 10 minutes. Remove them as soon as the butter begins to simmer. For optimal texture and flavour, we recommend not exceeding 150°C (300°F).

Our tip : to prevent the shells from tipping over, stabilise them with a crumpled piece of aluminium foil or place them on a bed of coarse salt. And for even more comfort, discover our special snail tableware!

Do you need special equipment to enjoy snails ?

Traditionally, snails are baked in the oven in a perforated dish and eaten with tongs and a snail fork.
If you don’t have a snail dish, a regular ovenproof dish works perfectly. We also offer trays of 12 snails ready to bake—convenient and ready to use !

Serving snails adds a touch of practicality and elegance to enjoying this iconic French dish.
Find these accessories at our online shop.

Our tip : if you don’t have snail forks, simply use appetiser picks or toothpicks

What should you serve with snails ?

Bourgogne Escargots and L’Escargot Dijonnais offer their most flavourful Burgundy-style stuffing, prepared with butter, garlic, parsley, shallots, and a blend of spices, according to closely guarded recipes.

All you need to do is prepare some fresh bread to savour every last drop of melted parsley butter.

To enhance the experience, pair them with a dry white wine, the traditional companion to Burgundy snails. We particularly recommend Clos la Folie from Domaine de la Folie, available in the shop.

What should be done with snail shells ?

Instead of throwing them away, why not recycle them to enrich your garden?
Rich in calcium carbonate, snail shells are an excellent source of nutrients for your plants. Like eggshells, they can be added to compost, provided they are crushed into small pieces.

You can also incorporate them directly into the soil by mixing the crushed shells into the earth around your plants.

How should prepared snails be stored ?

If you bought them fresh, our prepared snails can be kept in the refrigerator, up to the date indicated on the packaging, and for a maximum of 6 days, as they are ultra-fresh products. It is also possible to freeze them directly in their original packaging.

If you have purchased our frozen snails, keep them in the freezer until the expiration date indicated (up to 18 months shelf life).
